How to Use the Collection Management Features

CubanCigarWebsite offers a free tool that can be used to keep track of your cigar collection, keep a diary of cigars you've smoked, and make a Wishlist.

In order to use the Collection Managment Feature, you must first register and log in.

Adding a Cigar

When logged in, three small icons will appear in the top right-hand corner of a cigar entry on the brand and list pages. Add box to collectionNo stockAdd box to Wishlist

The Add box to collection icon is for adding a box to your collection. Clicking this icon will bring up the Add Box window where you can enter details about the box in question – the box code, the number of cigars it contains, source, price, add pictures and any notes.

Your entire collection can be viewed on the Collection page, accessed by the link in the top right-hand corner of the site.

The Stock icon indicates at a glance whether or not you have a specific cigar in stock in your collection. If the box is empty (No stock) , you do not have this cigar, while if it is full (In stock), you do. When the box icon is full you can click it to bring up the Stock Screen, which displays the details of the boxes in your collection.

Adding a Custom or Non-Cuban Cigar

At the top of the Collection page there is a link labelled "Add Custom Cigar." This will bring up a similar Add Box window to the one on the brand and list pages, except that the Cigar Name and Size can now be entered freely.

Adding a Smoking Diary Entry

On the Stock Screen you have an option to edit a box using the Edit box icon, or remove it using the Remove box from collection icon. You can also ‘smoke’ a cigar using the Smoke one icon. This will bring up the Smoke One screen.

On the Smoke One screen you can rate the cigar on six different flavour characteristics, choose flavour notes that you encountered, and enter a brief review. These reviews will appear in your Smoking Diary, which can be accessed via the Smoking Diary link at the top of the site. Submitting a review will automatically decrease the number of cigars in a box by one.

Once a cigar has been reviewed more than five times, the average of the scores along with popular tasting notes are visible to everybody on the main site.

Smoking Diary entries can be edited or deleted from the Smoking Diary page.

Adding to Your Wishlist

The Add box to Wishlist icon adds a cigar to your Wishlist, which can be accessed via the Wish List link in the top right-hand corner of the site. When the star is lit up (Remove box from Wishlist), it indicates that the cigar is already on your Wishlist. Clicking this icon when it is lit up will remove the cigar from your Wishlist.

Friends

On the Friends page you can view the Collections, Wishlists and Smoking Diaries of your friends, and Organise Trades with them.

To add a new friend, click the "Request New Friendship" at the top of the Friends page and enter the email they used to register for CubanCigarWebsite. The next time they visit the site, your new friend will have a number in brackets next to their Friends link on the top right of the page. When they visit the Friends page they will see your request, along with a link to accept it. Once they have accepted, you will both be able to view (but not edit) each other's Collections, Wishlists, Smoking Diaries, and can organise Trades.
