Internacional Cubana de Tabacos s.a. (ICT) produces small, machine-made cigars in Cuba, and markets them globally with same brand names and logos as the major Habanos brands. These cigars are not considered Habanos, as they do not meet the D.O.P. specifications for that mark (they are too small, are machine-made, and do not use aged tobacco). Like Habanos s.a., ICT licenses the trademarks for their cigars from Cubatabaco. The cigars are grouped into lines, including Puritos, Shorts, Minis, and Clubs.
History
Prior to 2002, some cigars in the ICT range were produced by the main factories and sold by Habanos s.a. Others were produced outside Cuba by C.I.T.A., using 100% Cuban Tobacco. Since 2002, all cigars have been produced inside Cuba. Like Habanos s.a., ICT is a joint venture between Cubatabaco and Altidas s.a., and the cigars are sold through many of the same channels.
