Cubatabaco was formed in 1962; the full name being Empresa Cubana del Tabaco.
In 1966 it was renamed Empresa Exportadora del Tabaco.
Cubatabaco owned the cigar brands, and was responsible cigar production and sales.
In 1994 sales became the responsibility of a new company named Habanos S.A.
In 2001 manufacturing became the responsibility of a new company named Tabacuba
