History: This packaging was developed in 1970 and began to be used in the early 1970s.  In 1982 varnished estuches (cigar cases) were introduced.  This packaging is no longer sold but Lanceros (possible others) are still produced as gifts.

Cohiba 2009 - Gran Reserva Grand Reserve Series Siglo VI Cañonazo 52 x 150 (5.9") Robusto Extra Siglo VI - a current production size. Gran Reserva band - minor embossing. Gran Reserva boite-nature box. Cigars: Handmade. 2003 vintage tobacco. Bands: Standard band D.  Second special band S7 (Grand Reserva - GR). Packaging: Numbered black varnished BN15 (5,000 made). Status: A 2009 release. History: The cigars are made with tobacco leaves from San Juan y Martínez and San Luis regions. The Gran Reserva Series represents the best of what Habanos has made. For this release, the best Cuban tobacco leaves harvested in 2003 were selected and rolled at the "El Laguito" factory. The Siglo VI size (52 x 150) was selected for the production of this first Habanos "Gran Reserva".

Both have second bands (X Festival del Habano). Packaging: Unnumbered black-lacquered BN case (20,000 made), 9 brands, 10 cigars. Status: A 2009 release.  Boxes date from DIC 08. History: This release is a replica of a special commemorative case gifted to attendees of the tenth Habanos festival in Cuba. The case contains a selection of standard production cigars released in the previous ten years. The case comes in a white cardboard outer box (that has the box and warranty seal attached) and a soft material cover to protect the high gloss presentation case.
